Aurora

Aurora Aksnes was born June 15 in 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. Popularly referred to as Aurora or sometimes stylized with the letters in uppercase as AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves by Decca Records was released on May 15th, 2015 it received a raving review from musicians and music blogs as well as from the press. She has previously recorded two highly-regarded covers Half the World Away by the band Oasis for a Christmas advertisement from John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Katy Perry, who endorsed the track Runaway through her music, offered an additional boost to the music. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding the piano she had in her attic and being awed by the sound it could create. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music. Not for work or as hobby but in order to grow. For this reason, she began writing music that was her own. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as a love for Bjork's style. When her mother told her that her songs would aid in her gaining popularity, but also help other people realize their significance within the global community and see the possibilities for the songs, she decided to begin performing publicly. Her first piano lesson was when she was six years old and was writing her first song before she reached nine. It wasn't until her 14th birthday when she first told her parents. Aurora was not a goal. She says she just likes creating songs. Music is her most preferred way of feeling anything.
