Megan Anna Rapinoe grew up in Redding, California. She was born there on July 5, 1985. Megan started playing soccer as a young girl and was able to develop her skills in her teens. Rachael was her brother in arms. She went to the University of Portland with Rachael. Megan Rapinoe was a star in the team's soccer program at the University of Portland, becoming one of the leading female scorers on the collegiate level in the United States. But a sprain to her knee made her rest for a few seasons in her junior and sophomore seasons. In her senior year returning to full-time soccer and began all of the matches during the season. She earned a bachelor of science in sociology from University of Portland, graduating in 2008. Rapinoe was recruited for the Chicago Illinois Red Stars in the recently formed Women's Professional Soccer WPS. The league she played for until 2010 ended, when it was disbanded. Rapinoe moved into Boca Raton Florida after spending just a couple of weeks playing for Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence. In just eight matches, Rapinoe scored two goals, helping the MagicJack reach third place in the division. The magicJack was disbanded by late 2011 and WPS fell apart in the early months of 2012. Rapinoe re-entered the United States in 2011 after playing a few games with Sydney Football Club FC, the Australian W-League. Then, she played with the Seattle Washington Sounders Women - now Sound FC. Rapinoe lived in France in 2013 during the football season. Then she joined the Seattle Reign FC now OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL created after the WPS broke up. Rapinoe was soon one of the leading scorers for the team and eventually became the captain. The U.S. was knocked out of the quarterfinals in Rio. Her participation in this year's FIFA Women's World Cup began in the year 2011. She played a key role in guiding in the U.S. Women's World Cup team to two consecutive wins in 2015. In 2018, she was cocaptain for the U.S. national team. Rapinoe's two goals were in the 4-3-2 United States victory against Australia in the Olympics in 2020 Tokyo. Japan, however it was postponed until 2021 after the COVID-19 virus was over.
